Ponencia presentada en el VII ENCUENTRO DE GENEALOGÍA GRAN CANARIA, organizado por Genealogías Canarias y RSEAPGC, el 18 de noviembre de 2020.
RESUMEN
Es prácticamente imposible no hallar sangre de los “semidanes” entre los actuales habitantes de La Aldea. Don Marcos de Carvajal y Guanarteme se instaló junto a su esposa Doña Catalina Mendiola a finales del siglo XVII en esta bella comarca del oeste grancanario. Marcos recibiría el nombre y apellido de su abuelo Don Marcos de Carvajal Quintana y Guanarteme , alcalde que fue de Gáldar y tataranieto de Don Fernando Guanarteme, último rey de la isla.
Apenas 20 años después de la llegada de los “Carvajal” a La Aldea el matrimonio de Agaete formado por Manuel de Espino y María Massias, arribaría a esta parroquia.
Ambas estirpes protagonizarían durante siglos los sucesos más violentos en la lucha del pueblo aldeano por liberarse del yugo feudal del marqués de Villanueva del Prado.
En 1876 Francisco Segura Carvajal y Crisanto Espino, asesinaron a Diego Remón de la Rosa, Juez y Secretario del ayuntamiento del municipio, que al servicio del Marqués se dirigía a la metrópolis a fin dar ejecución a los expedientes de desahucio sobre mas de 200 familias del pueblo.
100 años antes, los bisabuelos de ambos fueron a presidio por motines y revueltas con el mismo trasfondo histórico….
SUMMARY
Practice, in the actually the currents inhabitants of La Aldea are descendants of ancestral kings of Gran Canaria island, guanarteme o Semidan family. Mr Marcos Carvajal Guanarteme settled with this wife Mrs. Catalina Mendiola at the end of the 17th century in this beatifull region of western of Gran Canaria. Mr. Marcos Carvajal would receive the name and surname of his grandfather Mr. Marcos Carvajal Quintana Guanarteme, mayor who was Gáldar and great-great-grandson of Mr. Fernando Guanarteme, the last King of the island.
Barely twenty years after of the arrival of the Carvajal to La Aldea, the Agaete couple, formed by Manuel Espino and María Massías, would arrive in this parish.
Both lines would star for centuries in the most violent events in the struggle of the villagers to free themselves from the feudal yoke of the Marquis of Villanueeva del Prado.
In the year 1876 Francisco Segura Carvajal and Crisanto Espino assassinated Diego Remón, Judge and Secretary of the municipality, who at the service of the Marquis was going to the metropolis in order to executed the eviction files on more the two hundred families of the town.
One hundred years their years earlier, their great-grandparents were imprisoned for riots and revolts with the same historical background…
